Product Review: Big Daddye Creations (marabou and hair jigs)

There is no arguing the fact that some of the biggest bass, caught year around, are from jigs.  Not only are they caught by bass anglers throwing the heavier, 3/8 oz. and larger, jigs, but bass and crappie anglers as well, hook up with big bass throwing the 1/8 oz. counterparts.  Most of us have quite an assortment of jigs on the boat along with a variety of trailers.  I typically fish the plastic skirted models you find at your local tackle shops and do well with most any brand, but was curious to see what the natural hair jigs could do.

Big Daddye Creations, of Snohomish, Washington, sent me an email recently asking me to visit his website and see his product.  I visited his site, www.bigdaddye.com, and was anxious to give them a try.  I noticed a lot of his selections were of lighter weighted heads, which isn’t my top choice when it comes to jigs.  But I was very pleased to see that I could customize my jigs there as well.  I picked out a couple of his selections and had him tie another four.  Mel, the big daddye himself, quickly sent me my jigs that he personally hand tied, as he does with all his jigs.  The package I received was a pleasant surprise.  The marabou and bucktail jigs looked great.  I had a chance to throw them last weekend and regretfully wasn’t on a jig bite, but they look real good in the water too.  If anyone is interested in natural haired jigs, drop by Big Daddye’s website and give it a look over.  His prices are extremely fair and his service was prompt.  Looking forward to seeing how one looks in a lunkers mouth real soon, Kip Pollay (AZOD)
