Jake’s Success

                              Jake-Russ and Gene

Recently, AZOD Managing Editor Linda Dightmon made me aware of what many would consider a “rags to riches” story.

Not too long ago a gentleman came into a west valley cabinet shop where Linda works.  As they began to talk, Russ mentioned that he had recently purchased a GSP puppy from Desert Rose Kennels but felt a bit overwhelmed.  In talking with Linda, Russ learned that he had a really good resource with AZOD as the latest issue of Arizona Outdoorsman magazine contained an article, which highlighted the training program in use by Gene Wullkotte’s Blankenburg Kennels.

The rest as they say is history as shortly after reading the article, Russ contacted Gene and his GSP “Jake” soon became one of Gene’s pupils.  As a result, Jake was entered in the Central New Mexico Brittany Club Field Trial on Oct 2nd-3rd and took third in open derby, second in open puppy, and first in amateur walking puppy.

As any Gundog aficionado knows, this is a tremendous accomplishment given the fact that this was the first time “Jake” had run competitively.  It also speaks volumes to the merits of the Blankenburg Kennel program.

Congratulations to “Jake”, Russ and Gene Wullkotte.
