Dogtown Lake Campground

 

Dogtown Lake got its’ name from the extensive prairie dog towns that once covered the open areas near the lake. Trees now surround the lake. There is a guided nature trail nearby that you can enjoy or you can take a hike along the trail the leads up to the top of Davenport hill. There is a huge variety of wildlife in the area including elk, deer, turkey, antelope and if you lucky , you might even catch a glimpse of an Arizona black bear. There is also a variety of birds and small game.

 

Things to do: Camping, Hiking, Picnicking, Fishing and boating.

 

Facilities:  There are 51 campsites with tables and fire pits, one group area, a boat ramp, water and toilets.  

                   (Boats are restricted to electric motors only)

 

Fees:           Single-$10 per night per vehicle.

                    Day uses-$25 (reservation required)

                    If you want to use the ramada -$120  (requires a reservation) They can hold up to 50 people.

                   Tents and small trailers are allowed in the day use and ramada areas but there are no hookups.         

                    Sewage dump station is $5

 

Location and Access:  Dogtown Lake is located about 6.5 miles from Williams. From Williams take fourth street south (FR173-perkinsville road) for 3.5 miles to FR 140. Take a left on FR 140 and continue for 3 miles to FR 132.  Turn left on FR 132 and continue to the lake and campgrounds. The roads are not paved but they are graveled for all weather use but during the winter they may be covered with snow.
