Wet Tents!
Well your there in just the right
camping spot and everything goes just fine until it starts to rain in the
middle of the night. I think you
can imagine or have experienced the rest of this story. Take care of your ten and it will take care of you.
Here are a few little tips to help your tent do the job it was intended
to do.
·
Be sure that seams on the
floor and rain-fly are sealed. This is what makes the tent waterproof. If the
seams were already taped at the factory, apply some sealer anyway and don't
forget the corners.
·
Always use a ground sheet
with your tent. This protects the floor from wear and helps prevent sharp
rocks from cutting it. It also
prevents your floor from getting damp.
·
Always store your tent in
a dry relatively cool place and never leave it in a utility shed or the
garage. Our Arizona heat will
cause your tents seams to separate bring new meaning to the words leaky tent.
·
Ever go camping in a tent
that was stored wet. Smells about
like you boots.
If you spend a wet weekend camping set your tent up as soon as you get
home to dry out. Once mildew
starts working on your tent its just a matter of time before you have to get a
new one even if you can stand the smell.
Well we hope these simple tips help
ya stay dry on that next camping trip. Remember
to take you trash bag with you and carry out more that you carry in.
Help keep Arizona beautiful.
