Ok so here it goes. My self and my best friend were hunting down in unit 21. We left the truck at 1100 PM Thursday night and hiked into our camp spot (arived at 0300AM in the morning). Got up the next morning (Friday) at 0500AM and and started hunting as soon as it got light. let me reminded you that we have been hunting in this area for 4 years now and have saw bears each year and taken one other bear out of this area. hunting Friday morning we saw nothing no sign no bears. at about 400 that after noon the storm came down on us and let us have it. We then started our hike back to camp and arrived in the dark and wet. That night before going to bed we decided that we would pack up in the morning and get the hell out of dodge. sat morning got up and took my rifle apart to try and oil it down before the rust set in. took the bolt out and all the ammo. while sitting on a rock in cam wiping my rifle down I here a branch crack to the right of me. When I look I see a bear charging my camp about 40 to 50 yards off coming down a hill right at us. I yell bear and then start to fumble with my gun trying to get my bolt back in the gun. when the bear got to the bottom of the hill (where our camp was) he took a little left and ran right through the middle of our camp (came with in 6 to 12 inches of our tent). by this time I have the bolt in and grab a round off the rock I am sitting on and chamber it, I spin to my left just in time to catch the bear starting up the other side of the hill. I fired and the bear stands up on his back legs while turning around and starting to come back down the hill. I am think great now I have done it he is pissed. I chamber another round just in time to see the bear hit the ground. The bear died about ten feet from our tent and was shot about 35 yards from our tent.

I know that this story is hard to believe but it is the truth. If you want I have a picture of were it died in reference to our tent/camp. I have ran into several bears in the woods and have never ever had a black bear become the slightest bit aggressive. I don't know why this bear charged into our camp and then changed his mind and just tried to run back out but this time it did not go to well for the bear. oh ya that day hiking out we saw allot of bear sign and my friend is going back in this weekend so hopefully we will have another story soon. sorry about the spelling I suck at spelling.
